Kewell Converters has grown out of a willingness to innovate. The company almost 45 years ago when we pioneered a technique for manufacturing polyethylene cord that became a success. Since then, we have developed other production techniques in close partnership with leading foam suppliers and supply well known OEM's as well as trusted customers in the supply chain.
The acronym OEM refers to original equipment manufacturer - a company which makes the final products to be sold directly to the consumer marketplace. As an example, Toyota and Jaguar are OEM companies which manufacture cars and Sony is an electronics OEM.
Kewell Converters Ltd. is part of the supply chain leading to the final products. Much of the work we undertake is to fabricate components and parts for OEMs - perhaps foam gaskets for a car company or high-spec foam tubes used to protect and support offshore pipes for the oil industry. We could be termed Tier One suppliers in this context - we are sub-contracted to make parts for OEMs.
Tier Two in the supply chain consists of the companies from whom we source the raw materials. Zotefoam plc is our major supplier of foam, which we then convert into products for OEMs.
Sometimes we are tasked with producing the final product on behalf of another company - for instance, for a company called Playforce, we make children's educational and imaginative foam play mats for their Poddely range.
In whichever tier of the supply chain our projects place us, we approach our work with the same degree of professionalism, expertise and attention to detail.
