Converting Techniques
 
Water-jet cutting - Play Video
 
A state-of-the art CAD-controlled machine that cuts sheet and block materials using high-pressure water to create 2-D shapes. Ideal for samples and small quantities because no tooling is required. Can handle 2m x 3m pieces.
 
CNC Routing - Play Video
 
5 -axis CNC routing - CAD-operated machining and milling typically used for case inserts and tool sets where specially-shaped 3-D pockets are carved out of foam blocks.
 
Vertical cutting/strip cutting - Play Video
 
Numerically-controlled cutting machine (bandsaw) with a large bed (can handle 2m x 3m slabs). This machine cuts accurate straight lines into materials up to 500mm thick. Speed is pre-programmed so you can achieve accurate, repeatable cuts.
 
Die-stamping and punching - Play Video
 
Automatic, numerically-controlled machinery for cutting 2-D shapes out of raw materials using specially-made tooling. Ideal for high-volume work.
 
Splitting/slitting/skiving - Play Video
 
Highly accurate horizontal cutting of sheet materials. These numerically-controlled machines can make precision cuts – a sheet of foam can be as thin as 0.5mm or as thick as 30mm. Large beds handle 2m x 1.5m blanks.
 
Vacuum moulding/forming - Play Video
 
Machinery to make 3-D shapes out of semi rigid and rigid plastic and closed-cell foam. Shapes are formed by heating and drawing down the material over specially-tooled moulds. For use with high-impact polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene.

Tubing
 
Fabrication of tubing and cord from sheets of foam. Mainly used for the medical and construction industries.
 
Heat sealing
